Berlin, Germany – When working in the fashion industry it is hard to stand out from the crowd. The designers Jale Richert and Michele Beil presented their Spring/Summer Collection 2020 through a show with the title ‘UNSCHARF’ at the Fashion Week in Berlin and challenged typical stereotypes of the industry.
Starting off with an audiovisual installation, the audience was introduced to the main theme of the show. The guests could see both of the designers getting rid of their hair and clothes. The RICHERT BAIL duo demonstrated with that, what would happen if there are no external characteristics that define a human. That’s why the video constellation’s title was “THERE IS HUMAN UNDERNEATH”.
Around 30 unisex looks were presented by models that had also shaved hair. The walk was unusually slow. A collection with many details, little surprises and a huge statement: According to the designer duo “clothing must no longer be a seasonally exchangeable consumer product, but should be sustainable in the most original sense”. Some of the audience was shocked, other guests were fascinated: Jale Richert and Michele Beil definitely challenge to re-think the industry.
As a gift, each of the attendees received a goodie bag, including some of the hair of the designers.
