With the first new-build Alila resort in California, Hyatt is expanding the Alila brand in North and South America. Built in Encinitas, a beach town in San Diego County in the coastal region, it is the second hotel of the brand in California. The city is considered one of the best surfing spots in the world. Susan Santiago, Global Head of Lifestyle and Miraval Operations at Hyatt was delighted with the new luxury resort: “We’re excited to continue to expand in California with this landmark oceanfront project.”
Travelers can not only book one of the 114 rooms or 16 suites of the Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas, but also use it as a venue for events such as weddings. Dining can be done in a restaurant with roof terrace, relaxing in a spectacular pool area with bar or in the luxurious spa. The biggest highlight, however, is the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and the lagoon.

Architecturally, the beach resort is not intended to stand out, but to blend seamlessly into the cliffs. This is made possible by the natural building materials and native plants, which were included in the design.
Guests can experience the Southern Californian ambience directly during their stay. Not only through the design of the hotel, but also through various events and excursions. Surfing courses, yoga, hiking and cycling: A diverse program is designed to attract travelers to the location. But not only the guests of the resort will benefit from the new concept: With the new building there will also be a bicycle service, charging stations for electric vehicles, and a new public stairway and walkway to the beach, which will be available for local residents, too. The variety of impressions that the guests experience during their stay is also reflected in the name of the hotels: Alila means “surprise” in Sanskrit.
The Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas is expected to open early 2021.
